A Fantastic Resource (2010-03-20)
I'm so grateful for this book. It is well layed out, well documented, well researched, easy to read, and easy to understand. Having had this book when I was in the process of getting multiple diagnoses would have been extremely helpful, but it is STILL extremely helpful even now. As new individual symptoms crop up, I am able to quickly turn to any number of sections to see if that symptom profile fits anything I'm dealing with - very helpful in reducing anxiety levels and unnecessary trips to doctors. The index is very helpful - you can find what you're looking for by symptom, by diagnosis, by warning signs, by medication, etc. Treatment options are discussed. The authors include helpful listings for websites, support groups, foundations, and the most current and widely accepted 'definitive' books on the individual diseases covered in this book. Of the books on my shelves, this is the book I would be least likely to part with.
A must buy for anyone with autoimmune disease (2010-01-21)
I bought this book when I was first diagnosed with autoimmune disease. It is easy to read and understand. There is so much valuable information that I go back and refer to it several times. I attended a seminar last year on autoimmune diseases where the author was one of the key speakers and it was so informative. The author is educated and very knowledgable in the field of autoimmune disease. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
eye opener on auto immune system (2008-07-26)
I gave my rheumatologist a copy of this book. I have not finished it as yet It does make some stunning statements.
A very informative book for those who suffer from auto immune diseases (2007-01-09)
This book is well presented and full of interesting facts. Although aimed at the layman it uses rather a lot of medical terminology and certainly hits hard. If you have the misfortune to have one or more auto immune diseases and want to be informed about the course of your illness, the medication available and the research into new medication and possible cures, I would certainly recommend this book. However it is not for the faint hearted!
